Selectmen to discuss Schlumberger land
The Board of Selectmen will discuss the future of the Schlumberger-Doll Research Centercampus at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall, 400 Main St.
The board will meet in special session. It is not scheduled to vote at the meeting.
The selectmen have favored selling 10 acres of the 45-acre campus to Toll Brothers for $4 million. The developer planned to build 30 luxury condominiums there.
However, in a referendum last week, voters rejected that plan by a vote of 968-961.
In part, the vote was the result of an active campaign against the deal by town residents who think the town should use the land for more moderately priced housing, rather than selling it to allow upscale condominiums to be built there.
